A day in the life:
* Plan, prepare, evaluate, document and manage the office’s fiscal budgets and cash flow.
* Manage construction authorizations and construction engineering budgets on each project.
* Oversee financial administration functions including preparing monthly reports, state payroll and ordering supplies.
* Plan, prepare and document the monthly plan for workforce balancing of engineers, technicians, surveyors, clerical and other staff.
* Coordinate hiring, training, performance reviews and leave requests.
* Assign, schedule, direct, supervise and review work performed by construction and survey staff.
* Oversee comprehensive review of preliminary and final plans and specifications.
* Coordinate pre bid and preconstruction meetings with staff and stakeholders.
* Meet with contractors to plan and coordinate work, resolve issues and discuss scheduling.
* Supervise the preparation of monthly contractor progress payment estimates.
* Conduct field visits, perform inspections and review accident reports.

What we need:

A valid professional engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering and three (3) years of journey level professional engineer experience.

Note: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain comity within six months of hire.

* Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with a variety of audiences including internal and external partners.
* Experience leading and working with multidiscipline teams with varying viewpoints and perspectives.
* Experience related to transportation projects, highway construction and contract administration.
* Ability to use advanced engineering judgment and apply engineering principles in highly complex and controversial contract plans.
* Experience coaching and mentoring staff to build a positive work environment and a trusting, cohesive team.
